How Much Does It Cost to Install a New Power Point?

Adding a power point is one of the most common, and usually most affordable, residential electrical jobs, but the cost still depends on a few key factors.

Access to existing wiring

If a new power point can be run from a nearby existing circuit without opening up walls, it's a straightforward job. If cabling needs to be run through a ceiling cavity, under a floor, or through finished walls, cost and time both increase.

Circuit capacity

If the nearest circuit is already at capacity, a new circuit (and possibly extra switchboard space) may be needed, which adds to the job.

Number of points

Adding several power points in one visit is usually more cost-effective per point than a single point on its own, since a lot of the labour is the initial access and setup.

Getting an accurate quote

Because access and existing wiring vary so much house to house, we always provide an obligation-free quote after assessing the specific job rather than a generic price.
